It’s March 3, 2014. The inaugural Tacoma Beer Week comes in like a lamb. Tacoma Brewing is brewing in the former Amocat Café. 7 Seas is only in Gig Harbor. The Copper Door will open a month later. Pacific Brewing and Odd Otter won’t open until late fall. Wet Coast Brewing is just a dream. Sig, Black Fleet, Peaks & Pints, Edison City Alehouse, Brewers Row, and Beer Star aren’t a thing. This week on the Grit and Grain podcast, we sit down with Tacoma Beer Week organizers Gini Sommer and Kyleigh Palmer to discuss the history of Tacoma Beer Week, the TBW 2022 events, and its paramount event, Brew Five Three: Beer & Music Festival, which consumes Broadway Street Saturday, Aug. 6.
